IN | BETWEEN at New York Live Arts

IN | BETWEEN

My audio installation performance Call Elsewhere, based on Stav Palti Negev’s play Elsewhere: a Play for an Audience of One, will be presented as part of  In | Between,  co-curated by Yanira Castro and Martita Abril.

In | Between is a group showcase that assembles artists from the New York Foundation for the Art’s Immigrant Artist Mentoring Program. In this showcase, alumni of the Immigrant Artist Mentoring Program are gathering to share ideas on Live Arts stage. With the goal of reflecting on the multiplicity of their experiences, identities, practices, politics, these artists also speak to what holds them in common: the experience of displacement and disorientation and the work of communicating/finding/forming community. The artists in the showcase include Júlia Brandão, Floor Grootenhuis and Julian Louis Phillips, Robert Ó Shea, Lyto Triantafyllidou and Tina Wang.

During the performance of Call Elsewhere the audience is prompted to call a mysterious number. On the other side of the line they find a strange calling center, where they encounter refugees from all over the world, who share their stories of displacement and loss.

The voices in the recording belong to Ino Badanjak, Alexandra Gellner, Natasha Katerinopoulos, Laith Nakli and Jak Watson. Sound Editing by Evdoxia Ragkou

This project was developed with support from New York Foundation for the Arts and Chashama.
